Shree Shakti Consciousness Foundation (SSCF) as an organization primarily focusing on Community Adoption, Development, Empowerment and Environment Conservation. SSCF has commenced a Four Pillar Community Adoption Program aims to empower the Underprivileged Community to improve its overall growth and Our Environment Conservation Program aims at establishing Holistic Rejuvenation of the Internal and the External.
In the last thirteen years SSCF have successfully taken up social issues such as IT and Civic Education, Health and Nutrition and Women Empowerment and have endeavoured to build an environment conducive for provision of community care. Taking forward their aim to serve community, SSCF have expanding its horizons through establishing its footprint in Sirasoo Village, Yamkeshwar Block, District – Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. SSCF found out the plight of the Yamkeshwar area, nearly 107 villages are un-electrified and Uttarakhand stands to be the most vulnerable state related to climate related risks. The Health facilities in the villages are not satisfactory and the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) are not capable enough to treat the patients at initial stage of the disease as they have limited supply of electricity. Due to the limited access of electricity the PHCs doesn’t have refrigeration systems for keeping basic vaccinations like rabies, snake bite etc.
In the Phase 1 of Community Healthcare Program, SSCF embarked on a journey to provide Access to Clean Energy through Solar Lighting Systems to Primary Health Centres (PHCs) of 4 villages namely PokharKhal, Gaindkhal, Pipalkoti and Malakhunti of Yamkeshwar Block, Uttarakhand for better treatment facilities and provided refrigerators for keeping all the necessary vaccinations.
Also, SSCF has provided a solar lighting system to the Panchayat Bhawan of Village Sirasoo, which is the multipurpose building to meet the requirement of the villagers.
SSCF has adopted these 5 villages to continue providing them support to improve the health of the villagers and to ensure the sustainability and long term functioning of these solar lighting systems. SSCF invited all the medical staff members of these 4 PHCs and members of Panchayat of all the 5 villages to their campus in Sirasoo Village where we organized a training session for the care and maintenance of the solar lighting systems. Orientation was given about the benefits of the solar lighting system.
The phase 1 of the program has been completed and approximately 3000 households are impacted. The doctors (Dr. Monika Yadav and Dr. Atul Negi) are very happy with the results, as they stated the situation of the PHCs was not good before the installation of solar lighting systems. They were facing many problems because of poor electricity supply especially in the rainy and winter seasons. They were unable to provide vaccinations like nebulizers, rabies injections, snake bite vaccines etc. to the patients because of electricity failures.
Presently, the doctors stated that they are not facing problems and the program has positive impact.
Further to this, SSCF is initiated Phase 2 of the Community Healthcare Program. In Phase 2 of the program, SSCF has provided Solar Lighting Systems and Refrigerators to the selected PHCs of 4 villages namely Banchuri, Bhrigukhal, Deauli, Neelkanth of Yameshwar Block, District – Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand and a Solar Lighting System to the Head PHC & Cold Storage Unit in Laxman Jhul, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.
In addition, SSCF has also adopted 2 schools namely Government Secondary School, Village Sirasoo and Government Inter College of Village Gular-dogi under Yamkeshwar Block, District – Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand and provided Solar Lighting Systems to improve the IT education.
SSCF invited all the medical staff members of the 5 PHCs, Teachers and Students of the respective schools and members of Panchayat of all the 7 villages to their campus in Sirasoo Village where we organized a training session for the care and maintenance of the solar lighting systems. Orientation was given about the benefits of the solar lighting system.
