Apple and Google have made Smartphones the most interesting\u00a0 Technology Segment attacking each other<\/a> with new approaches almost daily<\/a> .Google has won regulatory approval to buy AdMob a mobile advertising firm after a long 6 month process , which gives it a stranglehold over the mobile advertising market .On the other hand Apple has proposed launching a new platform iAd to attract advertisers to its popular iPhone and iPad applications.<\/p>\n

The other entrenched players<\/a> in the smartphone market like Nokia ,Microsoft,Sony Ericsson are gettting left behind.<\/a>The other mobile makers\u00a0 are hitching their boats with Google’s Android Operating System to remain relevant.Motorola has introduced Droid based on Android to recapture lost marketshare as it has got relegated to the 8th position worldwide from the 2nd position only a couple of years ago.HTC is also shifting its phone to Android from Microsoft.RIMM and Samsung are the only players managing to hold on to their positions amidst this hyper competition in Smartphones.<\/p>\n

Owning AdMob stands to make Google and its Android software more enticing to advertisers that seek a wide audience and developers eager for part of a market expected to surge more than eightfold to $1.78 billion in 2014.With Google and AdMob joining forces, the pressure is on Apple Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs to prove he can apply the same formula to advertising that he uses in selling computers: charging more for products that boast slick design and a broader range of easy-to-use features.<\/p>\n

Last month, Apple introduced iAd, a service that places ads inside applications that run on the company\u2019s mobile devices, such as the Phone and the iPad tablet computer. AdMob also places more simplified ads in applications on Apple devices.<\/p>\n

Sales of the iPhone now account for one-third of Apple\u2019s sales, with revenue from the smartphone outpacing sales of the Macintosh computer last quarter. iAd will be available as part of a software update due this summer in the iPhone operating system software, which will power most of the 100 million iPhones and iPod Touch media players due to be sold by the summer. It will be available on the iPad later in the year.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jobs will kick off the five-day meeting, which starts on June 7, the Cupertino, California-based company said today in a statement.
