It is popular for its Sun Temple, located along the Pushpavati River. The temple was built way back\u00a0around 1026\u20131027 by Bhima-I of the Chalukya dynasty. This marks a welcome\u00a0step towards promoting clean and sustainable energy. A strategic location was chosen in Modhera as the village also houses an ancient sun temple.\u00a0<em>Did You Hear About the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/2019\/04\/18\/did-you-hear-about-the-solar-village-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solar Village Project<\/a>?<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">More than 1,000 solar panels have been put on village homes. The villagers will receive electricity free of cost\u00a024 hours a day. Installations include ground-mounted\u00a0solar power plants and more than 1300 rooftop solar systems on residential\u00a0as well as\u00a0government buildings, all integrated with Battery Energy storage systems. This village was solarized in accordance with PM Modi&#8217;s target of\u00a0rapid adoption of\u00a0renewable energy in India. This solar village will also promote the\u00a0sustainable implementation of a number of welfare projects in Gujarat. The PM also laid the\u00a0cornerstone for more projects worth\u00a0over Rs.\u00a03,900 crores on the day he\u00a0recognized Modhera as the country&#8217;s first solar-powered village. The temple is also adorned with heritage lighting as well as a\u00a03-D projection facility to promote tourism in the heritage site. These will also run on solar energy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The people of Modhera will not have to pay for electricity but they can earn from it by selling it\u00a0to nearby towns and villages. This will make the village completely grid-independent and will also improve the lives of the villagers both economically as well as\u00a0socially. It is a good move to solarize our villages. Not only will it improve the livelihood of villagers but also\u00a0boost\u00a0other social benefits including education, work, agriculture, etc. India has many villages which still aren&#8217;t connected to the grid.
