Currently, Indian Railways remain the dominant evacuation mode for coal and is targeting to increase its modal share to 75% by 2030. The Gati Shakti plan will focus on\u00a0reducing the logistical cost for coal evacuation and lead to better efficiency gains in the coal sector. It will also support\u00a0sustainable development as well as help in developing a low carbon strategy.\u00a0Coal is the largest\u00a0commodity transported across India as it is the\u00a0primary domestic fuel\u00a0in the country. The plan focuses on\u00a0developing infrastructure\u00a0and reducing logistic costs\u00a0to boost the economy. The current <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/2022\/02\/07\/green-india-budget-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indian Budget 2022<\/a> is also focusing on the <strong>Gati Shakti Plan<\/strong> along with a strong focus on <strong>climate change<\/strong> and <strong>energy transition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Highlights of Gati Shakti Plan from Budget 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Railways, roads, airports, ports, mass transport, waterways, and logistics infrastructure identified as the primary engines<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over\u00a0the next 3 years, around 100 PM Gati Shakti cargo terminals\u00a0will be developed<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Innovative ways for Metro systems construction<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">400 new generation and more efficient trains\u00a0over the next 3 years<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">A plan to expand the national highway network\u00a0by\u00a025,000 km in 2022-23<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rs. 20,000 crores as investments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Around 14 railway infrastructure projects are under implementation in line with Gati Shakti principles\u00a0in Chhattisgarh and Odisha to support increased transportation in those regions.
