The country has already announced to achieve\u00a0net-zero carbon emission by 2070, at the global climate meeting\u00a0in Glasgow last year. India is now targeting\u00a0to\u00a0reach the non-fossil fuel-based capacity\u00a0of 500 GW from the earlier expected level of 450 GW by 2030. The country expects to achieve\u00a050% of\u00a0its energy requirement from renewable sources by 2030.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>Important Renewable Energy Highlights for Budget 2022:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The\u00a0inclusion of energy storage systems under the infrastructure category.<\/li>\n<li>To introduce sovereign green bonds for public sector projects\u00a0to reduce the carbon intensity of the economy.<\/li>\n<li>Blended finance to be promoted for climate action, agriculture, and other clean technology.<\/li>\n<li>The overall investment\u00a0size\u00a0to meet the target of 500 GW capacity by 2030 has been estimated in the range of Rs 20-22 trillion.<\/li>\n<li>The transmission network and storage capacity could further entail investments worth Rs.12-15 trillion.<\/li>\n<li>The outlay in the PLI scheme was further enhanced by Rs 195 billion.<\/li>\n<li>Increased capital expenditure allocation to\u00a06%-6.5% for FY2023 should also boost energy demand growth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0government now has a strong focus to make India &#8220;<strong>Atmanirbhar<\/strong>&#8221; and has implemented meaningful plans like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/2021\/11\/15\/india-expected-to-make-impressive-progress-on-solar-pli-scheme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PLI<\/a>, CPSU, BCD, etc. to encourage domestic manufacturing of solar cells\/ panels. The Budget of 2022 is also welcoming towards the renewable energy sector. For instance, the inclusion of storage into the infrastructure category would\u00a0encourage investments in storage systems by facilitating the credit availability towards it. The introduction of sovereign gree bonds would also enable meeting funding requirements in renewable energy investments in a cost-competitive way. The Budget is also\u00a0supportive of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/2022\/01\/06\/the-four-best-selling-electric-cars-in-india-entering-into-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">electric vehicle adoption<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Indian Budget 2022 is supportive of green energy investments in India.
