Solar energy is getting real day by day. There have been numerous success stories of solar-generated power and the renewable source of energy has been accredited to save millions of tons of carbon dioxide. Two prominent organizations in India that have plans to install solar power plants and benefit from it are the\u00a0Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt in Karnataka and the\u00a0Sambalpur University in Odisha.<\/p>\n
The Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt will\u00a0set up a 135 kW capacity solar power unit. It is estimated to generate 600 to 750 units of daily solar power and have a cost of Rs.60 lakh. Orb Energy will be the installer. The solar plant will result in total savings of\u00a0about Rs.18 lakh annually towards the electricity bill. The Mutt currently spends around Rs. 24 lakh on procuring electricity. The installation is expected to be completed by the 10th of April.<\/p>\n
The Sambalpur University that installed a 245 kW solar power plant last year has greatly benefitted from it. The university that used to spend Rs. 40 lakh towards electricity bill annually has now registered savings of 30%\u00a0every month.\u00a0The project was inaugurated in July 2020 and was installed at a cost of Rs 2.89 crore in the first phase. The University has plans of expanding\u00a0over its large\u00a0chunks\u00a0of unused land. It is proposing to install\u00a0solar panels\u00a0on 100 acres of land, supplying solar power to the entire university.
