Or is it because we are not ready to accept electric cars as real?\u00a0Critics say that the technology is not mature enough to travel long distances or suitable for Indian roads. Another reason could be the lack of enough choices and a perfect combination of convenience, price, and looks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Though the last year was not a good one for the automobile industry, we expect 2021 to be better with news like Tesla entering the large Indian market\u00a0creating a lot of awareness among the masses. Also, rising fuel prices and\u00a0increased\u00a0awareness about climate change could propel Indians to think in this direction.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I truly aspire to own one someday. So today I delve into the existing and upcoming electric cars in India to help readers make an easy choice. There are many <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/2018\/02\/26\/advantages-and-disadvantages-of-electric-vehicles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>advantages of buying an electric car<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Hyundai-Kona-Electric.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-22265\" src=\"http:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Hyundai-Kona-Electric-300x249.png\" alt=\"Hyundai Kona Electric\" width=\"300\" height=\"249\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/2017\/05\/17\/reva-electric-car-india-should-you-buy-it-price-specifications-tax-credit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reva Electric car<\/a><\/em> &#8211;\u00a0Mahindra\u2019s Reva looks like a futuristic stylish car. It takes 7 hours to fully charge the car which can be conveniently done at night. A fully charged Reva can easily drive up to 48 miles. It will cost you somewhere between Rs.4+ and 5+ lakhs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Tata Nexon EV<\/em> &#8211;\u00a0Tata Nexon EV is one of the affordable EV SUVs in India currently priced in between Rs.14-16 lakhs\u00a0having a range of more than 300 km on battery only.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/2019\/10\/22\/should-you-buy-hyundais-kona-electric-in-india\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hyundai Kona Electric<\/a><\/em>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0The car comes with a\u00a039.2kWh battery in India and the car can run up to\u00a0452km on a single charge. However, practically speaking the range comes at around 300 km on a single charge, which is still remarkable for an electric SUV.\u00a0It takes about\u00a06 hours\u00a0to charge the Kona\u00a0fully.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>MG ZS EV<\/em> &#8211;\u00a0The ZS can be fully charged in 18 hours and can deliver 419 km of driving range. The car ranges from Rs.20-24 lakh in different variants.\u00a0MG Motor is expected to launch another EV which will be priced under INR 20 lakhs mark.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Coming Soon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Mahindra eXUV300<\/em> &#8211; The electric car is expected to be launched\u00a0by Q2\u00a02021 by Mahindra. This car\u00a0will be capable of a driving range of around 370kms. Mahindra\u00a0is focusing on electric cars this year.\u00a0The first variant is expected to come with a 350V powertrain with an affordable battery pack with a range of around 200kms. The other variant is expected to come with a 380V powertrain and\u00a0a battery pack with a range of around 370kms.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Mahindra KUV<\/em> &#8211; Another of Mahindra&#8217;s electric cars, Mahindra KUV is expected to have a range of\u00a0160-180 km on a single charge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Tata Altroz<\/em> &#8211; After the success of its Nexon EV, Tata is all set to launch Altroz by 2022.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/2019\/02\/21\/will-you-buy-maruti-wagon-r-electric-car-at-rs-7-lakhs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maruti WagonR EV<\/a> <\/em>&#8211; Maruti is also launching an affordable EV in the Wagon-R variant.\u00a0\u00a0This fast-charging EV (~6 hours) is expected to be available at a price range of Rs.7 lakhs.\u00a0The range of the Wagon-R EV\u00a0will be\u00a0~250km\u00a0when fully charged. This could revolutionize the electric car market in India as it will be available on a relatively cheaper price band.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The international car brand <em>Ford<\/em> is also expecting to launch its Mustang Mach E and Aspire Electric.\u00a0Mustang Mach E\u00a0is expected to deliver ranges of ~340km-483 km, while Aspire is expected to be launched under Rs. 15 lakhs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Tesla Model 3<\/em> &#8211; The entry of Tesla on the Indian soil has already created a lot of buzz.\u00a0\u00a0Tesla has recently registered a subsidiary company in Bengaluru, India. Its\u00a0Model 3 is among the most affordable and the best-selling models of Tesla to date and the company is expected to launch the same in India. Its driving range is above 400 km. The Tesla Model 3 could be launched in India by the end of the first quarter of FY 2021-22.
