Delhi Metro is currently producing over 32 MW of solar power through\u00a0rooftop solar plants\u00a0at its premises and\u00a0is planning to meet all its energy requirements from clean solar energy in the future. The\u00a0power plants are installed at Dwarka Sector 21, Anand Vihar, Pragati Maidan, Yamuna Bank, Yamuna Bank Depot, ITO, Ajronda Depot, Bata Chowk, Escorts Mujesar, and Faridabad Metro stations, under the RESCO model entailing a zero-investment model. Rooftop solar is gaining momentum in residential societies as well as educational institutions. The discom is\u00a0leaving no stone unturned\u00a0for accelerated adoption of rooftop solar in the city. Around 90 societies and apartment complexes have opted for\u00a0rooftop solar installations with a sanctioned load of over 5 MW in Delhi. As per BSES, installing rooftop solar could lead to annual savings to the tune of\u00a0Rs 25.8 crore in the commercial category,\u00a0Rs. 23.73 crore for educational institutions, and Rs. 9.8 crore for residential consumers across the city.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/rooftop-india.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19044\" src=\"http:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/rooftop-india.jpg\" alt=\"rooftop india\" width=\"259\" height=\"194\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">India has been lauded for its climate change commitments globally and\u00a0many countries in the world have joined the ISA initiative started by the country. Given the rising population and increasing demand for power, India is looking at affordable power supplies as well as reducing its carbon footprint.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Addressing the students at IIT-Kharagpur,\u00a0Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that\u00a0&#8220;India of the 21st century has changed. Now IIT is not only the Indian Institute of Technology but the Institute of indigenous technology.
