With 209 tenders\u00a0accounting for\u00a071.8%, <strong><em>Asia-Pacific held the top position<\/em><\/strong> during Q4 2019, followed by\u00a0Europe with 36 tenders and a 12.4% share and the Middle East and Africa with 29 tenders and a 10% share. SECI&#8217;s 3,000MW from four tenders and NTPC&#8217;s 2,514 MW capacity from nine tenders were the top issuers. India which is still a predominantly fossil-fuel-based economy has\u00a0added <strong><em>50\u00a0GW of renewable energy capacity<\/em><\/strong> over the last five years. Out of the total 98 GW power generation capacity, more than 50%\u00a0was based on renewable energy technologies <em>dominated by solar power<\/em>. Coal led the capacity additions with 41 GW of new capacity added. However,\u00a0capacity added through renewable energy technologies exceeded that based on fossil fuels, over the last 12 out of 18 quarters (ending December).
