India’s journey on the road to electric car adoption<\/strong> has so far been slow-paced. But given the hazardous levels of air pollution, especially in the urban cities and increasing government momentum<\/em>, the automobile makers are seeking this as an opportune time to make the most of this situation. There are many electric cars set to hit the Indian roads in 2020. The centre has also sanctioned more than 2,600 new charging stations<\/strong> across 62 Indian\u00a0cities for this year,\u00a0\u00a0under the second phase of FAME India scheme.<\/p>\n

For all the EV enthusiasts, there is good news. Tata Nexon and MG ZS are a few of the upcoming electric cars in India<\/strong> to be launched during the year.<\/p>\n

i)\u00a0Tata Nexon Electric Car<\/h3>\n

This car is poised to be launched in January 2020. TATA is accepting bookings\u00a0at\u00a0a token amount of Rs 21,000. A single charge will help the car run for 300 km and is expected to come with a price tag of Rs. 15 lakh – Rs. 17 lakh.<\/p>\n

ii)\u00a0MG ZS Electric\u00a0Car<\/h3>\n

The car company\u00a0debuted the Indian market with MG Hector. The electric car’s booking has already started\u00a0in five leading cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Hyderabad for a token amount of Rs 50,000. The car will have\u00a0a range of 340 km on a single charge and will cost around Rs. 20 lakh.<\/p>\n

Kia Motors<\/strong>, on the other hand, is lying low with its EV launch in India. The company made it big with its Seltos sports utility vehicle launch in India and\u00a0sold nearly 45,000 units within just four months\u00a0of the launch. The company, however, is hesitant about\u00a0its electric cars in India but has plans of building electric vehicles for the Indian market at its Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh.<\/p>\n
