The country is looking at building\u00a0transmission lines for 66 GW\u00a0at an estimated investment of 430 billion rupees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Transmission infrastructure<\/strong>\u00a0has always been a pain in the neck in the <em>development of solar power technology<\/em> in India. Investment in feeder lines and infrastructure upgrades is the need of the hour, as India looks to generate mainstream power from solar energy sources. Tenders for 12 GW of transmission lines have already been announced since December and bids for 16 GW\u00a0is expected to be launched by the end of June. Another 38 GW bid is expected next year in March.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/TN-SPP.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19495\" src=\"http:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/TN-SPP.jpg\" alt=\"tn-spp\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Construction of transmission infrastructure requires huge investments. Foreign development banks\u00a0have long been aiding the funding of solar power projects in India. Since Indian banks are already saddled with huge non-performing account balances, nothing much can be expected out of them.\u00a0<strong>ADB, KFW, EXIM<\/strong>\u00a0are few examples who have committed billion dollar funds to support the development of the\u00a0Indian solar industry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The government had also launched the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/2018\/03\/28\/what-is-green-energy-corridor-need-advantages-cost-current-progress-in-india\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+GreenWorldInvestor+%28Green+World+Investor%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Green Energy Corridor<\/strong><\/a> project, for strengthening the transmission infrastructure in the country.\u00a0The project is expected to be completed by March 2020 and is one of the major initiatives taken by the Ministry.\u00a0Grid stability and security are the main concerns for India presently. Recent efforts by the government such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/2019\/03\/22\/indian-government-incentivizing-states-for-solar-park-land-seems-set-to-fail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>incentivizing states to provide land<\/em><\/strong><\/a> for solar installations,\u00a0Cabinet Nods To <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenworldinvestor.com\/2019\/02\/20\/cabinet-nods-to-rts-and-kusum-scheme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>RTS and Kusum Scheme<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and now focused on transmission lines are laudable.\u00a0\u00a0Almost all of India\u2019s new capacity addition is expected to come from renewable energy sources.
