However, to boost solar adoption across the country various state governments announce subsidies from time to time, to encourage consumers and producers alike.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In\u00a0the latest\u00a0of this kind, the <strong>Goa State Solar Policy<\/strong> has\u00a0approved\u00a0an amendment entitling consumers and producers of solar power\u00a0to receive\u00a0a <strong>50% subsidy on capital costs<\/strong>. The state subsidy will be granted\u00a0after six\u00a0months of the solar power being injected into the grid. The\u00a0subsidy will be\u00a0 the lowest of:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>a) 50% of the capital cost<\/div>\n<div>b) the benchmark\u00a0cost\u00a0by MNRE or<\/div>\n<div>c) cost arrived at through tendering process by the GEDA (Goa Energy Development Agency)<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Prosumers who have installed\u00a0the solar\u00a0system after <strong>December 2017<\/strong> will be entitled to the new subsidy. Subsidy on capital costs will be provided to prosumers in the <em>residential,\u00a0institutional and social sector categories<\/em>. After the amendment, subsidies will be provided to plants\u00a0up to a capacity of 100kW for standalone systems. An electric meter from the state department will also be installed at the site. Consumers installing over 100 kW systems will have to procure approved meters at their own cost. You can read more details on\u00a0<em>www.geda.goa.gov.in<\/em><\/div>\n<div>Goa has been pursuing solar power aggressively given the high amount of solar radiation it receives.\u00a0A single-window clearance portal for grid-connected rooftop solar system is already on its verge of being implemented. It will simplify the process further.\u00a0Consumers will\u00a0just have to log onto the portal and provide details like email\u00a0id and mobile number,\u00a0to start the process. Goa is\u00a0perceived as a home for a lot\u00a0of salaried people in India. These people aspire to retire in Goa and the state has been receiving a lot of interest in its real estate market from these buyers.
