MNRE <\/strong>or Ministry of New and renewable Energy<\/strong> is a Government body formed to develop and promote the Renewable Energy<\/strong> usage in India. MNRE has designed and implemented different programs under\u00a0grid connected, off grid and decentralized system<\/em> to mainly enable grid competitive prices to use the clean and green energy as power source. These programs also include research and development of the different sources of energy.<\/p>\n

Grid Connected Power<\/strong><\/h3>\n

These involve private investment with favorable tariff policies.\u00a0The different programs implemented by the MNRE under Grid connected power are:<\/p>\n

1) Wind Power\"\"<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

2) Bio-Power<\/strong> –\u00a0which further includes:<\/p>\n

i) Biomass power \/ bagasse cogeneration<\/p>\n

ii) Non-bagasse cogeneration<\/p>\n

iii) Biomass gasifier<\/p>\n

iv) Urban & Industrial wastes<\/p>\n

3) Small Hydro Power<\/strong> – upto 25 MW station capacity<\/p>\n

4) Solar Power<\/strong> – including both Thermal and Photovoltaic solar power.<\/p>\n

Off- Grid Power<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Off grid power programs have been mainly implemented to support the energy requirements of communities isolated from electricity. These include rural and remote areas, areas where grid electricity is not available and\u00a0for meeting captive needs.\u00a0The different programs implemented by the MNRE under Off-Grid power are:<\/p>\n

1) Biomass<\/strong> based heat and power projects and industrial waste to-energy projects<\/span><\/p>\n

2) Biomass Gasifiers<\/strong><\/p>\n

3) Watermills\/micro hydro projects<\/strong><\/p>\n

4) Small Wind Energy & Hybrid Systems<\/strong><\/p>\n

5) Solar PV Roof-top Systems.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Decentralized System<\/strong><\/h3>\n

MNRE also provides various renewable energy technologies in rural areas without any electricity. These are the areas which are the most benefited by the use of renewable energy as their source of power. Some such technologies that are being increasingly used in Indian villages and rural areas are\u00a0solar lanterns,\u00a0solar home lighting systems, solar street lights, solar cookers and\u00a0water heating systems under the solar energy;\u00a0biogas plants for a family,\u00a0biomass based power generators under biomass energy;\u00a0Wind pumps and\u00a0Micro-Hydal plants.<\/p>\n
