Alion Energy<\/strong>, the California based company wants to reduce solar energy costs. Alion Energy was founded in 2008 and is an\u00a0EPC \"\"<\/a>and O&M solutions provider. Alion Inc. designs construction process for utility scale solar plants by using robotic installation technology, combined with the established construction industry practices. Alion Energy builds utility scale systems about 2x times faster and with half the labor. Alion Inc. now needs\u00a0$25 million<\/strong> from investors for its expansion plans and to build machines.<\/p>\n

Alion Energy also provides robotic cleaning<\/strong>\u00a0and installation<\/strong> technology. The company believes that the automation process will reduce solar costs hence making it more affordable and at par with the fossil fuel costs. The initial cost of installing solar energy is still high; with the company’s automation process the costs can be reduced. Alion Inc. uses robots to construct and clean solar farms.\u00a08 of the company\u2019s available machines can build a 50 MW project in about 3 months time. The next technology will aim at doing the same job with just four machines. With the introduction of ROVER<\/strong> and SPOT<\/strong>\u00a0robotic installation and cleaning technologies, Alion aims at building utility plants two times faster and with half the labor required. ROVER is the installation technology and SPOT is the cleaning technology.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The company has already managed to receive $10 million and is now looking for $15 million more to materialize its ideas.<\/div>\n

\u201cThis is a natural evolution,\u201d he said \u201cWhen you get at scale, you\u2019re always going to bring in automation. We\u2019ve hit an inflection point where the automation has been in the factories, and it\u2019s now time to take it out of the factory.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSolar\u2019s portion of the energy pie is really small, and the reason is because it\u2019s too expensive,\u201d said Jesse Atkinson, Alion\u2019s vice president of marketing and business development. \u201cWhen we get to 6-cent power, or we get into the fives, then we\u2019re competitive with natural gas.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
