Biomass Projects in India<\/h1>\n
In the last 10 years, about 96 projects aggregating to 656 MW<\/strong> have already been in operation and about 60 projects aggregating to 536 MW are currently under implementation in different parts of the country. Moreover, 63 biomass cogeneration (non-bagasse) projects aggregating to about 211 MW and 153 biomass gasifiers with a total capacity of about 45 MWeq have been installed in the country<\/em> during the last four years in various industries for meeting their captive heat and power requirements. In addition, 11 biomass cogeneration projects aggregating to about 50 MW and 30 biomass gasifier systems with a total capacity of about 6.00 MWeq are under implementation.<\/div>\n

Furthermore, 11 biomass cogeneration (non-bagasse) projects with a total capacity of about 40.00 MW have been completed during the year 2009-10 up to December 2010. These include captive power projects, especially in paper\/rice mills, oil industries, petrochemicals and tyre industries, etc. In addition to the above, 11 projects aggregating to 50 MW capacity are under implementation.<\/p>\n
